Trade Items Online And Its Benefits And Drawbacks

By Stacey Burt

Bartering is nothing new. History has taught us its importance when currency is not yet created. People used to buy items by giving the ones that they have in exchange for it. It worked just fine before. Now, bartring continues but in a more organized and modern way through online trading site.

The trend takes on two sides, those who like it and those who do not. While it has receive wide audience and users over the years, trade items online remain a source of debate for buyers who prefer different modes of getting an item that they want. Today, we will take a look at some advantages and disadvantages that these things have.

First pro is its flexibility. You do not need the same item for both sides to do the trade. As long as you agree on the things that you both want, then it is fine. For example, if you wish t trade your mobile phone to an mp3 player, you can. You just have to find a trader who is in need of your phone and who has the mp3 player that you want.

And since are the focus in here, you do not need to worry about finding money to pay for it. Regardless if you have cash or not, if you have something that is worth the item that you want from another person, then the trade could go on. Its money saving benefit is one reason why people prefer this process.

Not limited to material things. With bartering, you do not even need to part with your material things. You can use a service to trade for something. For example, if you want to borrow a limousine, you can instead pay for it by offering maintenance or cleaning assistance to the owner of the vehicle.

Along with its benefits comes the drawbacks. The most common of this is the trust issue. Most of the people you meet online are strangers, so you cannot expect to fully trust them. There is always this risk of dealing with someone who is not true to his word about your deal.

Another drawback is the lack of warranty. Since there is no formal assurance, you may be bartering your goods to something which does not have the quality that you expect it to have. Unless you agree with each other to formalize your exchange, you are never assured.

Lastly, compromise is always an option. If you need a limited book for instance but cannot find any, you may have to settle for a synonymous one that is of the same category. This will not provide the same information present on the special versions, but since you need a resource, you may have to compromise.

Experts recommend that you limit first your trading to people that you know. Or, if you really want to go online, at least take time to verify the credibility of the site. This is important so you will not be sorry later on for a wrong purchase.
