Where To Find Sober Greeting Cards

By Kenya Campos

Recovery from drug and alcohol addiction is a very difficult process for most people and when successes happen they need to be celebrated in ways that allow those involved pleasant memories for years to come. The need for a permanent memento for these members of AA and NA is one of the reasons that many shops and companies evolved. These recovery oriented businesses specialize in recovery based items including sober greeting cards.

Finding an appropriate card or memento in stores can be a difficult task for most and the people who act as sponsors for new comers can spend a lot of time searching for the right card. Part of any recovery process includes monthly birthday meetings that celebrate the anniversaries of their first day in sobriety. This policy is thought to be a mainstay in helping people stay sober and this inspires those sponsors and friends to try to find a personalized card or gift for those they care about.

There are numerous sites on the internet that can supply a card denoting the occasion. You can order them in boxes of up to twelve or as a single item. Many AA groups make use of these services to accommodate the need for them every month. The subject may honor a birthday or anniversary of sobriety or contain one of many supportive sayings popular to the members.

Some internet sites feature individual artists' renditions of unique and one of a kind cards. Others have their own specialty series that they showcase. Most of the sites allow personalization of their work where you can add to or replace the message inside their work.

The internet also can provide an e-card for individuals. These specialty items can be designed by the sender and e-mailed to the recipient on the exact date they entered sobriety. The sender supplies the address and due date when they place the order for the card. This works very well if the person you wish to reach lives in another city or state.

Many of the people who produce these specialty items are in recovery themselves. They have inside knowledge of sayings and acronyms used by participants inside and outside the meetings. This insight allows them to create a card that is meaningful and supportive to the recipient.

As recovering addicts and alcoholics as well as business owners many feel that they are participating in the service part of AA and NA programs. They offer many different types of items pertinent to recovery including Big Books from AA and jewelry such as necklaces and bracelets containing the recovery logos. A few of the suppliers offer to submit their printing orders to local print shops for their customers' convenience. This can speed up delivery but may alter the quality of the finished products.

When in recovery it is a special event when someone remembers your special days and when those days are remembered with a card or other gift or memento it becomes even more memorable.
