How To Help A Depressed Man And Keep Your Relationship Strong

By Alva D. Miller

People suffering from a major depressive disorder will know how much a mood swing can disrupt their day. A state of low mood can make a person feel sad, worried, irritable, and helpless. It can manifest as an aversion to activity or as lethargy.Feeling down now and then is normal, but you may have a problem if you are stuck in an endless cycle of bad moods and self-destructive behaviours. Depression is a common mood disorder, and sufferers need to know that they are not alone. There are a number of treatments, medications, and methods to treat and alleviate depression symptoms.

What is Depression? There are several depressive illnesses. The three most common disorders include major depression, dysthymia, and bipolar disorder. They have their own distinctions, but all are similar because they affect a person's overall mood, attitude, emotions, and general productivity.Major Depressive Disorder-this illness manifests itself through several symptoms. These symptoms often interfere with the sufferer's daily life and his or her ability to study, eat, sleep, and work. Most sufferers might go through a severe episode only once, but some people experience them more than one.People who suffer from chronic major depression have to undergo indefinite treatment and intuitive counselling.

Moving on when you have depression or anxiety isn't so simple though, there has to be a great effort put forward to overcome this condition. Experts say that loneliness is a natural part of every day life, but for people with this condition that affects of this emotion can be detrimental. It is important to be aware what is going on with both your physical and mental health, you have no reason to feel ashamed about taking care of yourself. My advice is to explore books on depression and figure out what book will benefit you.

The next tip I want to share with you about self help for depression and anxiety is the sunlight tip, ask yourself do you get enough sunlight? It may sound silly but a lack of exposure to sunlight is responsible for the secretion of the hormone called Melatonin, which could trigger a dispirited mood and/or a lethargic condition. Speaking from experience I find this to be very true, as working from home means I spend a lot more time indoors and at times it hasn't been good for my mental health. This is also the reason many people suffer from seasonal depression (SAD) which occurs in the Fall and Winter months. If you aren't able to go outside it's a good idea to open your curtains or blinds and allow sunlight to come in.

Are you living with a depressed woman? Or do you know any woman who is depressed? By the time you finish reading this, you would know several ways on how to help her. Pretty sure you would want to help an important woman in your life who is suffering from depression right? Depression happens to both men and women but it is more common in women.

This is partly due to hormonal factors, especially when having premenstrual syndrome, postpartum depression, premenstrual dysphoric disorder, and perimenopausal depression. It is a serious matter and should not be taken for granted. A depressed woman will have disrupted daily activities and relationships with others, and these could be detrimental for her health. A depressed woman would show several symptoms including:

The benefits of exercise include:Increased self-confidence,Satisfaction in achieving goals,Less time to think about worries and concerns which are a major component of anxiety and depression,The chance to engage in more social contact with others to lift your mood,Doing something positive and enjoyable to guide you away from negative thoughts and feelings. The word 'exercise' may strike fear into some people as they imagine themselves having to run a marathon race. However this is certainly not the case, as there are several much less strenuous and more enjoyable activities to choose from such as:walking, fishing, playing a team sport, getting together with a group for a card game, volunteering at a local community centre, washing the car, gardening

It is not necessary to dive headlong into a strict exercise routine. It's more important to find activities that suit your circumstances and your interests. For example: If you were out shopping and were faced with the option of taking the elevator or stairs, just take the stairs to incorporate a little more exercise into your day. Perhaps if you were going to the shops, you could park your car a couple of blocks away and walk the rest of the way there. Take the dog for a walk to the park, or if you don't have a dog, borrow the neighbors! They'll love you for such a kind gesture, and so will the dog. There are so many people walking around with depression but they do not go and ask for help. This can be for a variety of reasons. Fear of the unknown is one of them. This is actually so unnecessary. Why walk around with a symptom if you can be cured of it? Remember that depression does not only affect you but it actually affects the people around you as well. So it is important to tackle this issue together. Emotional support during a depression battle is vital. You must discern whether you want to opt for self help for depression treatments or medical treatments.

Encourage her to go to a professional. Explain to her that you are noticing several attitude changes that may indicate something. You must remember, however, that in doing this, do not be pushy and demanding. Being harsh on her will only make matters worse.Next, be informed about what depression is and be patient. You'll know that depression will make a woman act a lot different from her usual self, and it is not because she wants to. You have to understand that.do not give up on her. Even if a depressed woman would seem to not acknowledge or appreciate all your assistance and understanding, these will help her unconsciously. When you give up, this means that her social support system will slowly disintegrate.

Depressed people should have a support system, or else, they will feel isolated and this would worsen the case.guide them by doing some lifestyle changes like eating healthy and exercising regularly.encourage them to have supplements such as Homeopathic remedies. Homeopathic remedies only contain natural herbs like St. John's wort and Passion flower, making them free from side effects. Moreover, homeopathic remedies will nourish nervous system, support a more positive and motivated attitude, and promote general well being.Depression will affect a woman's life, but with early diagnosis, intervention, and help from surrounding people, it will be easily cured.
