The Method Of Jungian Therapy

By Maria White

Everyone knows about Jung and Freud. Some people are put off by therapy and psychologists because of this. Skeptics often think that you will approach a therapist being asked to lie on a couch while they analyse your dreams. However, it is not like this anymore. Therapy has come a long way. Freud and Jungian therapy are two of the most popular methods.

A therapist may fully believe in one theory because they find it effective or they find the success rate to be high. They may specialize with this in a certain area. Some therapists will only use this occasionally. They are flexible in the way in which they manage their clients. They may be able to see when patients need a certain technique.

Sometimes, patients have to be referred to other therapists in conjunction with psychotherapy. A client may need to look into other ways of expressing themselves. Some people with personality disorders will need medications. There are people who can benefit from informal support which you will discover at group therapy.

It is important to experiment with a variety of these methods and find out for yourself which you get the most out of. It is also important that you have the therapist that is right for you. If you have someone that is unsuitable, you will find that they are most likely to give you a bad impression of this Jungian psychotherapy.

People may approach a therapist because they are having marital problems are because they don't know their purpose. You could be stuck in your job or you could be feeling more and more depressed. As the analyst begins to ask questions, you will begin to remember more about your life which is obviously relevant.

The main concept of this form of therapy is to focus on the subconscious thoughts and feelings. There is always much going on in the subconscious which one needs to deal with. Not everyone is aware of this. Many people think that the past is in the past, but this is not really true. You may have had a traumatic upbringing and think this is in the past, but this is not really true.

These are things that you have to look into and talk to the psychologist about. It is not easy to be vulnerable like this. Sometimes, more memories will come to the surface during this time. This is obviously not easy to deal with. However, you will be working in baby steps. The fact that you have this support is also a huge help.

It is not something that everyone is happy doing. In saying that, when you have the courage and the determination to get to this point, you will find that you can really begin to turn your life around. The therapy deals with the individual and the difference between the introvert and the extrovert. There is also the shadow that is so relevant in this approach. It seems like a dark part of the therapy, but it is actually realistic and something that is very powerful. Everyone has a shadow, and it can be advantageous. It depends on how you make use of this.
