Things To Know Regarding Mission Trips

By Peter Gray

There are countries which majority of its people are living in poverty and experiencing hardships when compared to the rest of the world. They lack enough access on basic human needs which the government has a hard time providing to them because of lacking resources available. Health and education needs are inadequately met which makes surviving hard and the opportunities for improvement of their lives are lesser.

These problems being experienced by families there could be solved with the help of volunteers from different parts of the world. One of the opportunities available in helping others in these situations is by going on Vietnam mission trips with an added chance of being able to live there. A communist country, Vietnam is located in Southeast Asia and it is starting its recovery from the hardships it experienced during and after the war.

Agriculture is the primary source of income for the majority of the people but information technologies and manufacturing industries are there as well. This is due to the country opening up itself for trading in the global economy after the embargo, as a consequence of the war, was lifted. The improving economic situations that has been happening for years are not been felt yet by most citizens.

There are various kinds of mission trips to this country and it usually consists of healthcare and education assistance. Different organizations are responsible for these missions and the volunteers usually pay for their own fees as well as donations from other people. These fees do not usually include the airfare and visa needed to go there but only the accommodations and transportation needed when in the country already.

Medical professionals are the usual volunteers during medical missions on order to give the best possible service. They would check the people for various health problems that might be affecting them in there. Medicines are also being given out and they would be treating anyone the best they can with their abilities and equipment available.

Specific conditions are being addressed as well such as providing eyeglasses to those having a hard time to see clearly. Dental check ups for improving their dental health are done as well as providing dentures to those who need it. Wheelchairs and other kinds of walking aids are given to people with disabilities too.

Educating them on certain fields and skills that could be used in improving the condition of their lives is given. They are being taught by the volunteers how to speak English and skills such as swimming to help them survive being in the water. This is because drowning is one of the top causes of death for children in Vietnam and having swimming skills improve their chances of living.

Fun activities are included in the missions to provide leisure to the people and the volunteers like watching movies, going to the beach and picnics. Friendships and relationships are created and improved by doing these activities. It is also a time for them to enjoy and relax.

Joining these missions might be for you if you want to become a better person and experience things that are new to you. You can do these things to help those in need and help them improve their lives. Go with family and friends to be able to share this wonderful experience with them.
