The Unfair White Privilege Sports

By Leslie Ball

Diversity is something that is still very hard to achieve these days. Racial discrimination is still rampant these days. Oppression is still in the atmosphere in most nations and considerably, around the world. It cannot be denied that people are still classified according to their respective colors.

Dominance is one thing that divides people from nation to nation. It is never fair and it is never just. There are many privileges that all men regardless of differences must enjoy, but those who are less fortunate are deprived of such privileges. White privilege sports, education, politics, and business are the most unfair concepts.

This term is considered by activists as a stereotypical concept of self greatness. It is sad that the rest of the society will have to make a lot of compromises to be able to fit in but if one is white, there is not much struggle. This is a clear unfairness and utterly irrelevant. Some activists insist that there must be no such thing as racial division because everyone must be treated equal.

Some stereotypes just cannot accept differences. They are the ones who think that they are greater than another race because they look better or speak a better sounding language. They tend to think that culture, tradition, and color are the basis for social ranking. There is so much indifference towards people who are regarded as underdogs.

When it comes to sports, there are so many events participated by black and Asian athletes. In basketball, for example, the court is almost dominated by blacks because it so happens that they are the strongest and most competitive. However, the black privilege was never emphasized. In some sports event where Asians dominate, there is also no such thing as Asian privilege.

This term is like a brush that paints honor, privilege, and position with white. Some stereotypes are making this a standard even if it should not be. They are somehow making it a general rule or a generic.

If this concept is applied in the workplace, there will be little chances for the company to exist for a long period of time. This is because if there is a wall that divides people of different colors, beliefs, religion, and culture, there will be little cooperation. Cooperation leads to better organizational performance which can be achieved better if there is diversity and inclusion.

In other aspects of the society especially in schools, the situation is far worse. This is because juveniles lack the maturity to accept diversity. There are many cases of school bullying that lead to violence, suicide, and death. This could also affect, in a negative degree, the psychological and emotional well being of the youth.

it is not enough that the society is simply aware of what is happening. There is a need to take full and sincere actions from different areas in the society like institutions, foundations, organizations, and most especially the government. In addition, none of the diversity aims will be attained if individuals will not take part in the cause.
