The Need For Safe Prisoner Partition

By Dominique Martin

Statistics have shown that many prisoners in prisons try to break out and some are successful in their attempts in the United States. The main reason they escape is because they are not willing to spend a lot of their life time behind bars and they mostly succeed because the prisoner partition holding them are not usually strong enough to keep them in. The whole essence of keeping prisoners in jails is lost when they escape, since they are supposed to stay in prison to be kept out of the society for correctional purposes.

The boring life in prison and all the free time they have, sometimes they use it to carefully plan heinous act of escaping or making enemies in the facility, leading to fights and deaths as it has been reported in the past. A person who has the experience of doing something, always finds it not hard to do it again which is same with murder prisoners. Some other prisoners will not just take it in a good way and decide to take their life with any object they can get their hands on in their partitions.

To avoid any kind of suicide being committed inside the prison, it is imperative for the people involved in the construction of the facility and in particular the partitions to put the use of any materials that can't be used by suicidal people to take their lives. Sharp objects, such as glass, should not be used at all. The high cost of construction is worth it.

Chaos can at any time occur in the prison facility and it would be extremely hard for the few prison officers available to control angry mob of prisoners with history of crimes. This makes it vital for partitions to have capability of being auto locked. It also makes work easier and reduces labor costs within the facility if the doors can be opened and locked automatically.

Digging through or under walls is one of the commonest way of escaping from prisons. Planning for these escapes takes even years and happens without the knowledge of officers since it is done slowly by slowly in the partitions at night when no one can suspect it. Using very strong materials to make these partitions solves this problem.

Good partitions come with complete inbuilt beds and washrooms for the prisoners. This reduces the fights which usually occur in common washrooms in prisons leading to some prisoners injured and others dead. Prisoners causing trouble in the facility can be completely isolated from the others within their partitions.

The about 68% of the 309 on average prison escapes recorded in a year, happen when in transportation. There is no way transportation of prisoners can be done away with since there are constant inter-prison transfers on daily basis and new prisoners taken to prison each day. The only way around this worrying statistics is to ensure the partitions in the transport vehicles are high quality in order to avoid escapes.

The lives of good officers handling prisoners should not be endangered by the use of poor quality prison partitions. The stress they face on daily basis is enough and the last thing they need to worry about is possibility of prison break. Prisoners can be very violent when they are trying to escape.
