Bibles for Students

By Honorary Rabbi Jo

The Bible is a remarkable book, but its marvels are sometimes buried remarkably deep. The Student Bible delves deeply but puts that heritage and impact right on that study desk! It's rich, profoundly expansive, full of meaning-- but frequently, that meaning is challenging to decipher in its original context. The Bible was composed over thousands of years, by dozens of authors. Linking together the dots between their messages can occasionally be tricky. It can be particularly complicated given that the authors lived in many different civilizations; all very different from our own.

All sorts of things can easily get lost in interpretations, through no fault of the translators themselves: humor, poetry, and obscure references to the then-current milieu. There will come a time to leave casual reading and ask for help from those who've studied it long before. It may be time to upgrade to a Student Bible.

What Makes This Student Bible So Different?

A Student Bible is a blend of unique commentary: whether generalized or exact, which aims to expand the reader's understanding of the most vital book they could ever read. In Psalm 119:115, we find this, "Your Word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path." (NIV) God's Word shows us the way we should live our lives, however in some cases it can be hard for us to recognize how to apply that to our daily lives. The NIV Student Bible is built to focus a light on, and bring incredible understanding to how the words written millennia ago have the ability to guide us still today.

The title, Students Bible, does not necessarily mean only a student can use this Bible, or that you must be an undergraduate in order to profit. This classification of Bible simply features content especially produced with the student in mind; no matter if you are a high school student, college student, or student at your local church night Bible Study class. So do not let the title steer you away just because you are not currently pursuing a degree in higher education. Imagine this is a Bible for people going after a higher level of understanding in God's Word.

Study To Have Accurate Answers To Questions The World Is Asking

2 Peter 3:15 tells us, "Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope that you have." (NIV) It is important that we can respond to those who question us regarding our faith. Today, skeptics run rampant, claiming the Bible to be filled with contradictions; that suffering disproves the existence of a sensitive God, or that science has eliminated any sort of requirement for God whatsoever. Others allege Christianity emerged from pagan religions, or that its system of integrities is barbaric, antiquated, or inferior to various other religions. Apologetics Bibles are for the even more dedicated student or rising apologist. These have articles as well as by-lines composed by Ravi Zacharias, Norman Geisler, J. P. Moreland, Hank Hanegraaff as well as others on all of the above subject matters, and even more!
