The Functions Of Name Tags For Employees

By Dorothy Myers

Name tags are very important marketing tools in the modern world. Many companies have their employees wearing these badges in order to attract potential customers. Networking in most corporate events highly relies on the ability of the parties in attendance to identify each other and converse. Name tags help a lot with this issue. They were once simple items, but now their level of sophistication has gone up a lot.

Typically, a name tag will contain the name of the wearer. Depending on the audience and the nature of the event, name tags for employees may also contain other pieces of information about the wearer, the event, and the company they represent. These pieces of information include job position, company being represented, and responsibility of the wearer at the event. This way, anyone who needs to converse with the wearer can just look at the badge and know about relevant information about the individual.

These badges should be designed appropriately for them to be effective. The use of suitable type of font and size is one way of attaining a great design. Whereas some font types are legible, others need the reader to strain so that they can read. Thus, font sizes that are minute make it difficult for some people to read.

Even though monochrome badges are trouble free to draft and economical to purchase, they are relatively ineffective when compared to multi-colored ones. Multi-colored badges display better information such as corporate logos, event description and job title. Using multiple colors enables the use of solid colors thus eases identification.

To protect badges against wear and tear during conferences, they are usually enclosed in plastic pouches. Furthermore, such cards are conventionally fit with QR codes or barcodes for granting users entry to varied amenities among other reasons. For this purpose, it is critical to make sure that plastic sleeves used to enclose the cards can allow barcodes or QR codes to be scanned easily. This capability should always be tested first before the material is used to make the badge.

It is very critical to gauge durability of the material to be used to make the badge. Badges are meant to be used over and over again in numerous occasions. For this reason, it must be ascertained that they can last long enough to serve their purpose. Furthermore, some events take days or even weeks. This makes it necessary that the cards be made of high quality vinyl. Light vinyl can be used if the event in which the card is to used only lasts a single day.

To save more on badges, it is advisable to always buy in bulk. For instance, instead of buying just 50 cards or lanyards, one can go ahead and buy 500. The remaining cards or lanyards can be kept for use in the future. The purpose of this is that there are a lot of savings obtained from bulk purchases.

In general, a badge usually measures 4 inches by 3 inches. Some people usually make their badges too small or too large. Very large cards will look awkward while those that are too small will be ineffective at their work.
