How To Remove Spyware From Your Computer System

By Rosella Campbell

The only best way to prevent spyware from invading your computer system is preventing it from being downloaded but unfortunately, this method does not always work for most people. The reason why you need to learn how to remove spyware from your computer system is that you do not want third parties to steal information in your computer system. They not only intrude your privacy but also have a negative effect on the performance of your computer system.

The first thing you need to do is to download spyware detection and removal software from the internet. A number of software is available for download and some of the best examples include Spybot Search and Destroy, the Hijackthis and the Windows Defender. It should not be difficult to search for any of these and find safe downloads online.

Try to identify the most important files in your computer system even before you begin using the software you downloaded. The reason why you want o identify the most important data is that once you start using the software you may lose data by accident or by misdiagnose. Make sure the information you will need is safe by backing up in an external storage medium.

If you have personal files, official files or work related files in your computer system, find a suitable backup for them. The best thing to do would be to have a separate backup system other than your personal computer. An external hard disc would be a great solution because it has a big space, just great enough for data storage.

Once you have backed up all the data, disconnect your computer from the internet. If you are on a LAN network, remove the cable from the slot and then restart your computer. Remember to start your computer in Safe Mode.

Scan your computer system using the anti-spyware software you previously downloaded from the internet. It is important to note that the anti-spyware software is helpful because it will automatically remove infected files and folders from your laptop or desktop computer. The other method that you can use is to uninstall infected software files from your computer using uninstall utility programming from your control panel.

Reboot your computer system and check if this has solved the problem. Using the anti-spyware alone should solve the problem and you can continue using your computer system as normal. However, if you notice that there is still a problem with your computer further action may be required.

You may have to format the entire hard drive and then install a new operating system. Of course, this is the worst thing you want to think about so you want to try all possible solutions until you are sure this is the only way out. If all the available means do not work well for you or in the least solve the problem, backup all data and then proceed with formatting. Make sure you have the software ready to install after you reinstall your operating system.
